At long last, the day of the BirdRace had arrived. As many as 13 teams and 50 members participated in the event. These teams covered almost every birding hotspot in the ISCR. From 0500 hours to 1700 hours, teams scoured the region for as many birds as they could to win a spot in the top 3. This year, Marshals for the BirdRace viewed live locations of each team.
The tally for this year came to 231 species, less than last year.
First place was bagged by Team Kestrel – Vikas Sharma, Mohit Kohli, Sidharth Nagar, and Saiyam Nagar – who recorded 189 species. Team Black Baza – Shruti Singh, Sunny Singh, Gurjeet Virk, and Dikshant – placed second with 186 species. With 160 species, Team Falcon – Rick Toor, Karmannye Chaudhary, Nitin Singh, and Baljit Kaur – got the third position. Bird of the day was Northern Lapwing, recorded by Team Black Baza in Motemajra.
Prizes were distributed, glasses were raised, photographs were clicked, and conversations made. The night ended with a scrumptious dinner.

I am a new entrant to the world of birding.
I am feeling proud as I was a part of the team Magpie during the Bird race and was in charge of making the listđź‘Ť I love birding because it lets me discover new things that I didn’t even know about. Thankyou…
